The World’s First Air Sync On The Lg Mini Gd880

Oozing with stylish sophistication, the slim and simple LG Mini GD880 unveiled by the Korean mobile phone giant LG Electronics early this month, right before the 2010 Mobile World Congress, redefines what a feature-rich smartphone should be if it is to be both compact and affordable.
It is not a “Mini” of any existing LG handset, though it’s smaller than the latest LG Chocolate but richer in specs than the LG BL40 Pop. At 102 x 47.6 x 10.6 mm, it can lay claim as one of the smallest and slimmest touchscreen monolith on the planet. It looks like it was designed starting from the 3.2-inch display with a mandate to make the body as small as the screen as possible.
The result is a fascia that’s completely dominated by the screen with a narrow bezel and just the right top space to accommodate a secondary camera for 3G video call and a narrow bottom to give balance.
A First of its Kind
Featured at the recently concluded MWC, the LG Mini is claimed to offer a pioneering Air Sync – the first ever feature that allows continuous data synchronization between your desktop or laptop PC and your handset over the air, possibly using the DLNA feature of its WiFi connectivity. Not only will it synch with your PC’s audio, video and image content, it will also capture the last 100 websites you’ve visited on your PC regardless of search results.
Richness on a small and slim handprint
LG positions the new Mini as a social networking handset with a trio of bundled apps that promises to maximize SNS capability on the road. It has a phonebook subset called Social Network Contact containing all your online friends in Facebook and Twitter, the Social Network Connect which facilitates getting in touch with them and the Social Network Feed for automatically updating those SNS sites. Other than that, the LG Mini is a high-end feature-rich smartphone every where you look at it
The LG Mini GD880 a dual band 3G phone with HSDPA at 7.2 MBps and HSUPA at 2 MBps. It’s also a standard quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE on the 2G network. Data connectivity is served with a WiFi 802.11b/g with DLNA while local connectivity gets Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and microUSB 2.0. You also get SatNav features with its built-in GPS receiver with Assisted GPS.
The 3.2-inch display is a TFT resistive touchscreen with WideVGA resolution and 256 k colors. It has the usual accelerometer, ambient light sensor and anti-scratch glass cover. Imaging is served with a glorious 5-megapixel autofocus camera that features image stabilization, face and smile detection, geo-tagging and a decent VGA recording at 15fps. You get multimedia support with media playback facility for the popular audio and video codecs including DivX and Xvid. It also features Dolby Mobile, stereo FM with RDS and a 3.5 headphone jack.
It runs on a proprietary LG operating system with the now famous S-Class UI. There’s a document viewer for commonly used PDF and MS Office files, a Flash-enabled web browser and your messaging apps for IM, email and texting.
Phone memory is confined to 330 MB plus up to 1,000 phonebook entries capable of photocall. This can be expanded for up to 32 GB via a hot-swappable microSD slot.
