The Sony Ericsson Vivaz is a touch screen smartphone focused on entertainment and media. The digital camera is capable of HD video, while the multimedia player can support multiple file types and FM radio. There is built-in GPS and the phones Bluetooth technology allows the device to communicate with other compatible hardware devices.
Aesthetically the Vivaz is very pleasing, the 3.2 inch screen utilises a 360 x 640 pixel resolution which is capable of producing over 16.7M colours, the end product is clean, clear on-screen imagery full of clarity and precision. Sony Ericsson have designed the Vivaz to look good in a selection of colours which include pink for ladies, but the phone also comes in blue, black and silver. An ever so slight curve of the outer casing allows the phone to fit perfectly in palm of your hand.
The Symbian S60 OS provides the user with a slick interface to work with and the 720MHz processor is spunky enough to handle the media heavy applications like the Facebook app and the YouTube application. The display has an in-built accelerometer which rotates the interface when the phone has been flipped, the resistive touch screen is the main form of interface navigation but a line of physical buttons underline the screen and they can be used to interact.
Being supported by Wi Fi and 3G the Vivaz is well connected and quite comfortably delivers a decent browsing experience, the browser allows for bookmarks to be saved and the pan and zoom controls are intuitive. The microUSB connection enables the Vivaz to communicate with your desktop PC where downloading music and other media is possible.
Vivaz users can utilise a range of messaging features, e-mail; Exchange and POP, Instant Messaging, SMS and MMS. Social networking is covered by a dedicated Facebook application and a Twitter application; the clients work very well and sites like MySpace and Flickr are also compatible. Sony Ericsson has equipped the Vivaz with a document reader for the more business minded user to check e-mail attachments.
The 8.1MP camera is very well equipped with a flash, auto focus, 4x digital zoom, smile detection, face recognition and a whole load of image settings and editing tools for a budding young photographer to play with. 720p HD videos can be captured and a TV out connection allows you to view your content on the big screen. Direct send to web facilities can also be utilised, with Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, along with others being compatible.
The Sony Ericsson Vivaz is a multimedia based smartphone with a very capable set of music and video players. The video player will easily manage a wide range of video formats and the music player is just as capable in playing multiple audio file types. A 3.5mm jack lets users plug in there headphones and a microSD slot will take memory upgrades up to 32GB.
