For a maximized user experience, awesome online options and quality messaging support, RIM has the phone for you. There newest and most generously equipped phone is called the Blackberry Torch 9800. Loaded with 3G, Wi Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and a digital camera, the new phone is up there with the big hitters in the market. RIM has also been so kind as to include a microSD slot which will handle anything up to 32GB.
At first glance you see a nicely proportioned touch screen smartphone with sleek lines and slime line measurements, but behind this is a neatly tucked away QWERTY keyboard which transforms the phone into a glorious, messaging dynamo.
Aesthetically the Torch is one of RIM’s best efforts; the chromed casing frames the main display beautifully. The 3.2 inch capacitive (multi-touch input method) touch screen has a HVGA resolution of 480 x 360 pixels and it is capable of showing of over 16M colours.
Despite there being a fully touch sensitive UI the optical track pad remains for the older generation of Blackberry users. The slide out keyboard may be compact, but it is still very easy to use, the slide mechanism which the keyboard has been mounted on is very sturdy and feels reliable, the top-notch build quality is obvious.
The Torch is debuting the new Blackberry 6 OS which runs super slick and delivers an improved yet some what familiar experience to its predecessor. Integrating your social networks is its key feature with the option to gather and filter information from the likes of Facebook and Twitter and stream them into one application. You can also update your status across all of your accounts with one, single post. The new OS also allows un-censored access to the Blackberry App World for additional applications.
The new operating system delivers a much faster, and much richer browsing experience than ever before on a Blackberry. Utilising the 3G or Wi Fi, the browser allows you to save tabs, open multiple sites at once and save bookmarks which can be customized and accessed from the home screen. Live news feeds can also be streamed direct to the home screen, so staying up-to-date with the latest world events and sports news is but a tap away.
The Blackberry Torch is a success where messaging is concerned; it is capable of supporting various e-mail inboxes and IM accounts from many of the worlds most popular providers including Google and Microsoft clients. The phone has a handy document viewer or the work conscious and it is possible to integrate your contacts and calendar with a laptop or desktop PC.
The digital camera is loaded with a 5MP lens and it is capable of capturing high resolution imagery in both photo and video formats. All files can be edited or shared online with your social networks, or uploaded to YouTube to see how many hits your work attracts. The Torch has a multimedia player with the highest capabilities in multiple format support; you can also benefit from a FM radio tuner and for private listening a 3.5mm AV jack capable of taking most types of headphones.
The Blackberry Torch 9800 is one of the most advanced handsets on the market. The phone will be at the top a many wish lists thanks to its incredible online capabilities and messaging options.
